Saffron: Indian Paradise
Northampton’s Cocktail Guide: Indian Paradise
There are few establishments in Northampton that are serving up as delicious, flavoursome and exotic South Asian fare as Saffron. Specialising in beautiful Bangladeshi & Nepalese dishes, the cultural quarter restaurant is in the midst of opening up a new bar area in April and is aiming to knock up some of the finest cocktails the town has seen.
Having worked with a specialist mixologist from London to devise their new cocktail menu, the restaurant will have a dedicated cocktail master working at the bar ready to serve up tasty drinks to parched patrons. One of their signature cocktails from this new menu is their aptly named Indian Paradise.
What’s in it?
- 1.5 shots Bombay Sapphire
- 1 shot Cherry Brandy
- Orange Juice
- Strawberry Slice
Mix 1.5 shots of Bombay Sapphire gin with the shot of cherry brandy, then poured into a wide-top glass. Add crushed ice before slowly pouring in the orange juice to the edge of the glass which sinks to the bottom and creates a two-tone affect. Garnish with a slice of strawberry to the rim of the glass and serve with two short straws.
The signature cocktail aims to marry new and traditional flavours, similar to the food Saffron serve, bringing a modern twist to traditional cuisine. The Bombay Sapphire gin represents Saffron’s origins and heritage whilst the Cherry Brandy was a popular drink at the time when Indian restaurants really rose to prominence in the UK.
If you fancy trying something exotic, fruity and different, we suggest popping in and giving it a try.
