When it comes to tapas, it is no secret that Sol Y Luna knows a thing or two. The tiny, Spanish-influenced bar on Kingsley Park Terrance has long had a reputation as serving up some of the finest plates of Mediterranean delights in Northampton. No surprises there. But were you aware the bar is capable of serving up some seriously good cocktails as well? Well, prepared to be pleasantly surprised by the El Pedro Borracho.
What’s in it?
- 1 shot Vanilla Vodka
- 1 shot of PX sherry
- ½ shot of Frangelico Liqueur
- Orange Juice
- Cranberry Juice
Sol Y Luna’s original El Pedro Borracho or ‘Drunk Peter’ acquired its name from both the Pedro Ximenez Sherry that is used in its making and also the fact that the Sol Y Luna team all had to take a cab home after inventing it.
Combine all the ingredients, shake well and then serve over ice in a short glass. Et voilà! The sweet Pedro Ximenez sherry creates a rather punchy flavour with notes of caramel and Christmas pudding on the lips. The vanilla and fruit notes come through in the mouth to end with a smooth fade down of the sherry’s sweetness.
The only downside with a Pedro is one is just never enough so we suggest having a cab number to hand.
