Song of the week: Holding On
‘Holding On’ by Disclosure feat. Gregory Porter
This week’s Northampton Gent Song of the Week is from two English artists, Howard and Guy Lawrence, more affectionately known as Disclosure. Holding On is the pairs first official new single since 2013’s seminal album, Settle.
The song premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio show on the 26th May and features the silky voice of Grammy wining jazz singer Gregory Porter.
Holding On, with its uptempo, two step beat, is a remix of a song the duo originally wrote with collaborator Jimmy Napes, and is sure to be a popular anthem in clubs up and down the country this summer. Combine the bouncy garage beat with Porter’s smooth, warm croons and we think that the brothers are onto yet another winner.
With this being just the first off their upcoming album, we can be pretty confident that Disclosure’s second album is likely to make just as large an impact as their first and is certainly one we are looking forward to.
What are your thoughts on Disclosure’s new track? Do you think the uptempo beat works well with the jazzy vocals? Are you looking forward to the upcoming album? Let us know your thoughts below.
