Good people of Northampton, something very special approaches and we are absolutely delighted to be writing this because nothing makes us happier than seeing amazing live music in our wonderful town. So what are we talking about? What is this brilliant event that has inspired us to write? Why, it is this year’s Northampton Music Festival of course!
What is the Northampton Music Festival?
The Northampton Music Festival is an annual event held within various locations of Northampton to showcase the musical talent and culture that resides within Northampton. Each venue hosts a different genre of music so that all tastes are catered for, from hip hop to heavy metal and is free for all. It is certainly an event that any gent that enjoys his live music should partake in. The festival is now entering its 8th year and is becoming well established across Northampton and further afield as being an event which brings amazing musical talent to the Northampton community.
As we are always informing you fine gents of local live gigs that are approaching, it seems only natural that we should inform you of the biggest musical event in Northampton. The event is organised by Northampton Music 365, who in association with the Northampton Town Council and Northampton BID, are working towards the admirable goal of raising the profile of Northampton through music activity.
The groups fundamental goal is to:
…work in partnership with the local music community, to support initiatives and to provide a hub where others can promote and showcase music. We hope to provide a central umbrella where all the musical initiatives of the town can work together, cross promote and develop wider opportunities for the town.
A worthwhile cause in these gents eyes; the group are forever working hard to have Northampton known for more than shoes and making the town a musical haven. So the big question is, who are these amazing artists you speak of? Well, fear not, for we have the full line up here for you. From popular names that have popped up many a time on the site to big acts from further afield, the range of artists on offer is truly something special.
Northampton Music Festival’s line up
On Sunday 22nd June, Northampton will play host to over 60 musical geniuses in what is set to be the biggest Northampton Music Festival since its inception in 2006. The festival begins at 12pm and ends at 9pm on Sunday. The festival will be held on 9 different stages across the town centre:
- Main Stage at the Market Square
- All Saints Stage in-between Mercers Row and George Row
- Northampton College Stage at the Black Bottom Club
- NN Courtyard Stage at the NN Courtyard (who would have guessed)
- BBC Introducing Bands Stage and BBC Introducing Hip Hop Stage at the Department of Liquor & Social Affairs
- Busking Stage on Abington Street outside the Grosvenor Centre
- Northampton Bands Metal Stage at the Penny Whistle
- Dub and Reggae Stage at the Racehorse
And if that was not enough, the after show party will be taking place at the Charles Bradlaugh.

Some of the acts we feel you should pay particular attention to include the headliner Billy Lockett, a quickly rising star from Northampton who has hit number 40 in the UK Album chart and number 1 in the iTunes Singer Songwriter Charts as well artists Leila Jane, Hannah Faulkner, Nixie in the Pond, Mr Flyboi, Will Rogers and Nevermind.
Parking is free around the town all day Sunday so we suggest choosing some of the acts you want to visit and heading to what will most certainly be the most music filled day in Northampton’s calendar.
